A shared clock-in kiosk with personal PINs

Any tablet or computer with a browser can be a kiosk for one site. Staff tap their name, enter their own PIN and clock in, with no phone or login of their own needed.

Free for up to 10 people, with every feature. Not a trial.

KiteClock's kiosks page: a Reception tablet paired to Leeds City Office.

How it works

  1. Pair the tablet

Add a kiosk for a site and enter its one-time pairing code on the tablet. The code works once and lasts 15 minutes.

  2. Staff set a PIN

Each person sets their own 4-digit PIN in the app, or a manager sets it for them.

  3. Clock in at the door

Tap your name, enter your PIN, then Clock in, Start break or Clock out.

One tablet, everyone's clock-in

A kiosk belongs to one site and nobody signs in on it, so it can stay on the wall or the reception desk all day. Remove a kiosk and it stops working straight away.

Staff who don't have a smartphone, or don't want to use theirs, clock in at the kiosk with their own PIN.

  • Any tablet or computer with a browser
  • Paired to one site with a one-time code
  • Works for staff without a KiteClock login

PINs that protect each person

PINs are stored scrambled (bcrypt), so nobody, including managers, can read them. Obvious PINs such as 1111 and 1234 are refused.

Five wrong PINs lock that person on that kiosk for 15 minutes, and 30 wrong tries on one kiosk in 10 minutes pause the kiosk. A manager resetting the PIN lifts the lock.

  • 4-digit personal PINs
  • Lockouts for wrong guesses
  • No photo or location stored at a kiosk

Questions

What do I need for a kiosk?

Any tablet or computer with a web browser. Pair it to a site in KiteClock with a one-time code and leave it where people start work.

Can staff without a smartphone use KiteClock?

Yes. They clock in at the kiosk with their own 4-digit PIN, and they don't need their own login.

What if someone guesses another person's PIN?

Five wrong PINs lock that person on that kiosk for 15 minutes, and many wrong tries pause the whole kiosk for 10 minutes. Obvious PINs like 1234 can't be set.

Does the kiosk take photos or record location?

No. A kiosk clock-in stores neither a photo nor a location: the kiosk itself belongs to the site.

Can the kiosk show the QR code too?

Yes. A kiosk screen can show the site's QR code, which changes every 30 seconds, for staff who'd rather scan it with their phone.
